Broad Plain Boxing Club opened in 1894.

It stayed open.

Dennis Stinchcombe has been there for over fifty years.

He came young and never left.

He coached. He listened. He stayed.

The club became more than a gym.

It gave structure. It gave people somewhere to go.

For many, it was home.

In 2013, Banksy painted Mobile Lovers .

It was sold. The money helped keep the club alive.

For a while at least

The club changed. It opened up.

It began working with people with Parkinson’s.

No fighting. Just movement. Just effort.

Now it is struggling again.

Funding has gone.

The doors are still open.

Only just.

This is a story about staying.

About turning up.

About a place that did not close.

and a man who did not leave.
